Before your work goes to an agent or publisher, it needs to be carefully reviewed and polished. That’s where I come in.

I’m not a critic of your work; I’m a collaborator. I am part of your team. Together we hone your work so that it has a sharp edge that can cut through the red tape of publishing acceptance.

As a developmental editor, I will help you with the fundamentals of your writing project. Do you know your target audience? Are you struggling with structure, flow, or the general direction of your work? Is your work coherent: clear, factually correct, and true to your concept? Is the overall tone consistent?

I will collaborate closely with you to help you stay on track and reach your goals. Your vision becomes my vision.

My developmental editing services include: general edits and revisions accompanied by written examples; detailed notes on structure, focus, and flow; research advice and links; as well as follow-up calls and emails.

I can provide you with everything you need to transform your concept into a final product ready for publication. We will achieve this together, while making sure that your voice is maintained. Rate: $60/hr.

You’ve finished your writing project, gone through the grueling self-editing process, and made your revisions. Then, you wonder if you've missed anything. It’s a fact that writers who proofread their own work often miss their mistakes. You need someone with a fresh perspective to read your final draft and make the appropriate corrections.

My proofreading services include correcting spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors. In addition, I check for consistency of text and story coherency. Rate: $30/hr.

Abut Rowena Woods Editing

Writing and editing have been a part of my life for over thirty years. I have always loved the process of taking a piece of work and redrafting it until it flows effortlessly.

My qualifications include a degree in English Literature; being a member of the Editorial Board for the Quebec Writer’s Federation; writing for TV and film; editing novels, screenplays, short stories, and articles; and facilitating writers’ groups and workshops. My work has been printed in various media, and my children’s book, Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained, was published by Two Views Press.

I'm interested in working with authors of all genres, abilities, and aspirations. I believe the best results come from close collaboration with my clients.

When I’m not writing or reading, I paint, make films, and play the ukulele.
